PairMyRig exists because almost every bottleneck calculator on the web answers the wrong question. They take two parts, produce an alarming percentage, and leave you no way to tell whether the number means anything. Most of them will not say where their data comes from, and several flag a perfectly balanced build as a problem.
What we do differently
- We publish the method. The formula, the performance indexes and the sources are written out in full on our method page. You can check our working, and we would rather you did.
- We treat a GPU limit as normal. Nearly every well built gaming PC is limited by its graphics card. We only call something a bottleneck when one part is genuinely wasting the other’s money.
- We give the figure a context. A percentage without a frame rate attached tells you nothing, so every result says whether the gap is something you would actually feel.
- We label estimates as estimates. We do not own the hardware we write about and we have never benchmarked your exact combination. Saying so costs us nothing and tells you what the number is worth.
How the data is maintained
Our hardware database is a single file we edit deliberately, not an automated feed left to drift. Every performance index is checked against at least two published sources before a page using it goes live, and we re-check the set whenever a new generation of parts launches.
Where published sources disagree, we take the more conservative figure. Where we do not have reliable data for a part, we leave it out rather than guessing, which is why the database is smaller than some competitors and why the numbers in it hold up.
What we do not do
We do not run hardware reviews, we do not accept payment for placement in any ranking, and we do not claim to have tested products we have not. Our recommendations are justified by specifications and published benchmarks, and the pages say so.
Corrections
If a figure here is wrong, we want to know. Send the source you are working from and we will check it and publish a correction. Our contact details are on the contact page.
