Editorial Policy

This page sets out how content on PairMyRig is produced, reviewed and corrected. It applies to every page on the site.

How we produce figures

All performance figures are modelled from published benchmark data, not from testing we have carried out. Every index in our hardware database is checked against at least two independent published sources before a page using it is published. Where sources disagree, we use the more conservative figure. Where reliable data does not exist for a part, we leave it out.

How we make recommendations

Recommendations are justified by specifications and published benchmarks, and the reasoning is shown on the page. When we recommend a part, we recommend the cheapest one that solves the problem, not the most expensive one we could link to.

What we will not do

  • We will not claim to have tested hardware we have not tested.
  • We will not accept payment for placement in any ranking, comparison or recommendation.
  • We will not present a model as a measurement, anywhere on the site.
  • We will not publish a figure we cannot source.

Affiliate links and independence

Some pages contain affiliate links, which are disclosed on the page and explained in full on our affiliate disclosure. A commission never influences whether a part is recommended or where it ranks. Parts we do not earn anything from are recommended on the same terms as parts we do.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we correct it and say so. If you find an error, send us the source and we will check it. Substantive corrections are noted on the page itself rather than made silently.

Review schedule

Hardware data is re-checked whenever a new generation of parts launches. Guides and explanatory content are reviewed at least annually, and the review date is shown on the page.
